Rob Hamilton became Covenants Assistant Pastor of Adult Ministries in February of 2007 and then Associate Pastor in February 2008. He earned a B.A. in music from UNC Wilmington and graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA, in 2003 with a Masters of Divinity degree. Rob and his wife, Hayley, are from Wilmington, NC, and have three young daughters: Molly, Margaret Anne, and Katherine. Before coming to Covenant, Rob previously served as the Assistant Pastor of New Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Virginia Beach, VA, from 2003 till January 2007. Rob enjoys music, history, fishing, hunting, and golf. Of his calling to Covenant Church Rob says:
"Through a providential series of events and relationships, we were introduced to Covenant and believe that the Lord has led us here to serve and love this wonderful family of faith. Both Hayley and I know it is a great privilege to serve the Lords people here. I believe that my sense of calling and gifts are a good fit for the current needs of Covenant."
When explaining how he sees the mission/vision of Covenant Church, Rob has this to say:
"I am passionate about our vision to bridge the gulf and to reach the next generation for Christ. To do this we must do three things: communicate the unchanging truth of Gods Word to the ever-changing world around us; declare how the greatness of Jesus Christ meets all the true needs of human beings; and demonstrate the love and grace of God through deeds of mercy, compassion, and justice."
Robs Personal Testimony:
"I grew up going to church faithfully every week. However, I was very skeptical as a child and did not come to saving faith in Christ until I was seventeen. At that time I became increasingly miserable under the weight of my sin, the emptiness of my life, and a desire to know God and to find truth. I also began to sense God convicting me and drawing me to himself. After reading the Gospel of Matthew and Billy Grahams book, Peace with God, I repented of my sin and unbelief and turned to Jesus. I experienced a radical transformation and sensed that I was now a new creature in Christ. Interestingly, it seemed that my turning to Christ was not the cause of my new spiritual life, but the result of something Gods Spirit had done in me."
"During my involvement with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship while I was a student at UNC Wilmington, I began to sense God calling me to a life of pastoral ministry. So after college, Hayley and I left Wilmington to attend Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, MA, to prepare for ministry. I graduated in 2003 and we have been serving the Lord and his people in full-time pastoral ministry ever since."
We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.
